A Bay Area Treasure,

Faithfully Preserved Since 1892

At Cypress Lawn, helping our neighbors in the Bay Area during difficult times is what we do best, but we are also passionate about celebrating life in all forms.

We firmly believe that Cypress Lawn is not just for those who have passed on — it’s a place for the living to enjoy too.

For nearly 130 years, we’ve been privileged to serve as the steward of an incredible historic and cultural institution. Our Memorial Park is the eternal place of rest for many famous Californians — from business tycoons to suffragists — and it’s an honor to share their stories with our Bay Area community.

Cypress Lawn is more than just a cemetery; it’s a testament to the humble beginnings of the West, filled with breathtaking artistry, one-of-a-kind sculptures, beautiful stained-glass windows, and mausoleums that have been here for decades. Our Memorial Park is a place of serenity with incredible views of the San Bruno Mountains.

Through the Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation and our internationally accredited Arboretum, we offer a variety of free educational and cultural activities for our Bay Area residents of all ages.

While COVID-19 has prompted us to temporarily pause our in-person events, we look forward to the day when we can resume our popular Trolley Tours, lectures, and book club. Starting this fall, our Arboretum Director will begin offering in-person Tree Tours, sharing the details about the hundreds of trees in our collection and the history behind these gentle giants. We have many exciting new activities in the works too, and we can’t wait to share the details with you throughout this upcoming year.

If you don’t feel comfortable visiting Cypress Lawn in person just yet, we have a variety of virtual options for you to enjoy during this time. We invite you to visit our website to browse the stories of the notable residents of our East Campus through our virtual history tour, along with our interactive Arboretum Tree Tour.

We look forward to seeing you at Cypress Lawn soon. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions about your visit.
