In a previous article this past year, I mentioned that a new longer-lasting neurotoxin was in development and soon to be released to select practices throughout the country. Well I’m thrilled to share that Blackhawk Plastic Surgery & MedSpa was selected as one of only a few in Northern California to have early access to DAXXIFY, the only FDA-approved, peptide-formulated neuromodulator that has been shown to last for up to 6 months to 9 months.
DAXXIFY is a new and very safe injectable treatment that is used to treat wrinkles, creases and frown lines on the face. While effects of other neuromodulators, such as Dysport, Botox and Xeomin, last for approximately 3-4 months, DAXXIFY patients have reported seeing results that last at least twice as long. That translates to 2 treatments per year compared to the usual 3-4.
With more people returning to socializing, in-person meetings and work, most women and men want to look and feel their very best – for their own self-confidence and to project a more professional, polished look. That’s a primary reason why many cosmetic procedures have exploded in popularity over the last few years. These procedures include tox injections, as well as dermal fillers, laser treatments and surgical procedures.
So how does this longer lasting tox called DAXXIFY work? Like the other brands, it is a simple protein that is injected into a muscle creating weakness. Muscle action is what causes the wrinkles of frown lines, forehead furrow and smile lines. Look in the mirror and make these expressions to see the muscles at work. By precisely and temporarily weakening these muscles, we can soften the expression and reduce or eliminate many wrinkles.
During the 5-minute procedure, DAXXIFY injections are carefully administered to target areas. The treatment is quick, easy and requires little to no downtime. DAXXIFY does not have significant side effects or safety concerns. As with any injectable treatment, patients may experience a little redness or mild discomfort at the injection site, but these mild side effects will resolve themselves on their own. Most patients will notice results within a day or two after their treatment and can expect results to last 6 to 9 months, or twice as long as other tox treatments.
