Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens – the Trolls are Alive!

Last month we went to Maine for a week. We went to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor. There we saw the coolest giant Trolls! A Danish artist named Thomas Dambo created these wooden sculptures. They represent different parts of the tree – trunk, leaves, branches, flowers and roots. We had to walk through the whole garden to find all five of them. It was a great lesson on why we all need to take care of the Earth.

My sister loved making fairy houses out of fallen sticks, leaves and other found materials. There were hundreds of fairy houses that other visitors created too. It was pretty cool because the whole space overlooked the ocean, so there were lots of shells mixed in with the twigs and bark.
