Looking ahead, we wonder what this year will bring. Many of us feel optimistic about the future. Our housing market was the strongest ever in the last 18 months. The experts are forecasting a continued strong housing market but with a few differences. Interest rates are expected to tick upwards (already the 30-year mortgage has increased over 50 basis points in the last 12 months) and this rate hike will always tend to slow down a seller’s market. But, with inventory of homes expected to increase only slightly over last year, the housing market will remain strong. We can’t expect the appreciation values to continue at the same rate as in the past year; but a more normalized market will be a good thing.
